This Chicken Tzatziki recipe combines juicy grilled chicken with creamy homemade tzatziki sauce. A delicious and healthy Mediterranean meal!
Ingredients
For the Chicken Marinade:
- 1 ½ lbs( 680g) boneless, skinless funk guts or shanks
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat preferred)
- ½ cup cucumber, grated and squeezed to remove excess water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh dill (or ½ teaspoon dried)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For Serving (Optional):
- Warm pita bread or naan
- Cherry tomatoes, sliced
- Red onion, thinly sliced
- Feta cheese, crumbled
- Fresh parsley or mint for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Chicken
- In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, thyme, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken breasts or thighs, coating them well in the marinade.
- Cover and chill for at least 30 twinkles ( or up to 8 hours for further flavor).
Step 2: Make the Tzatziki Sauce
- While the funk is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce.
- In a bowl, mix together Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, dill, salt, and black pepper.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
Step 3: Cook the Chicken
Grill Method:

- Serve with tzatziki sauce on top or on the side.
- Pair with pita, rice, salad, or roasted vegetables.
