Ingredients
For the Beef:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
For the Bowl:
- 2 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice, cauliflower rice for a low-carb option)
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced cucumbers
- 1 fried egg (optional, but highly recommended!)
Instructions
Step 1 – Preparation
- Cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside.
- Prepare the ingredients by mincing the garlic, grating the ginger, and chopping the green onions.
Step 2 – Cooking Process
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add sesame oil.
- Cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add garlic and ginger and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Mix in the sauce: Add soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the beef absorbs the flavors.
- Stir in the green onions, then remove from heat.
Step 3 – Final Touch & Serving
- Assemble the bowls: Add a portion of rice to a bowl, then top with the Korean ground beef.
- Add fresh toppings: Arrange shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, and a fried egg on top.
