Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- ¼ cup olive oil
For Toppings:
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- In a large mixing coliseum, combine flour and swab. Pour in the incentive admixture and olive oil painting.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Step 2: First Rise
- Place the dough in a greased coliseum, cover with a damp kerchief, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 3: Shape the Focaccia
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and press the dough evenly into the pan.
- Use your fingers to create small dimples across the surface of the dough.
Step 4: Add Toppings
- Brush the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Step 5: Bake
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy on top.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- ✔ Use High-Quality Parmesan – Freshly grated Parmesan adds the best flavor.
- ✔ Don’t Skip the Dimples – This helps hold the olive oil and toppings in place.
- ✔ For Extra Crispiness – Bake an extra 5 minutes for a crunchier crust.
- ✔ Experiment with Flavors – Try adding rosemary, thyme, or chili flakes for variety.
- ✔ Use a Pizza Stone – For an even crispier bottom crust, bake the focaccia on a preheated pizza stone.
